லேவியராகமம் 2:13
நீ படைக்கிற எந்த போஜனபலியும் உப்பினால் சாரமாக்கப்படுவதாக; உன் தேவனின் உடன்படிக்கையின் உப்பை உன் போஜனபலியிலே குறைவிடாமல், நீ படைப்பது எல்லாவற்றோடும் உப்பையும் படைப்பாயாக.
And every oblation of your food offering shall you season with salt; neither shall you suffer the salt of the covenant of your God to be lacking from your food offering: with all yours offerings you shall offer salt.

நீங்கள் பூமிக்கு உப்பாயிருக்கிறீர்கள்; உப்பானது சாரமற்றுப்போனால், எதினால் சாரமாக்கப்படும்? வெளியே கொட்டப்படுவதற்கும், மனுஷரால் மிதிக்கப்படுவதற்குமே ஒழிய வேறொன்றுக்கும் உதவாது.
All of you are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be salted? it is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men.

That the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perishes, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honour and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ:
